Biography
In June 1986 AK Design Partnership was formed between Mike Allen and Keith Sier and in January 2019 after a succession process the management of the Practice was transferred to David Lloyd and Tom Colliss. Both Mike & Keith are still supporting AKDP as Consultants and together are striving to maintain the Practice to a high standard and to assist its ongoing development and growth into the future.
Mike is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Building (MCIOB) and a Chartered Construction Manager and also a Member of the Chartered Institute of Building Engineers (C.Build E & MCABE).
AKDP is also a Chartered Building Consultancy and Mike has always supported personal development in members of staff to attain qualifications to maintain the high standards required by the construction industry. This has typically been achieved by supporting day release and mentoring on a regular basis and underpins the fabric and management of the Practice today.
Mike has been instrumental in developing AKDP from its very inception and still maintains a role in assisting the new Members in retaining AKDP presence on Constructionline, CHAS, ISO 9001 & 14001 standards together with Practice Management in all its commercial and technological facets.
Mike is also actively managing a recently successful bid for an NHS Framework delivering Architectural and Design Team Services also with participation in an ongoing P22 Retained Healthcare Campus project that is due for completion in 2021. Both these ongoing appointments are involved predominantly in the Mental Health sector which over the years has become a focus of Mike’s activities and expertise.
AKDP has been developed into a Practice with a varied client base and Mike has successfully integrated AKDP into Social Housing projects for Local Authorities and Housing Associations working directly with the respective Social Landlords and successful novation to work up designs for Contractors delivering the projects.
It was always the Practice Philosophy to work seamlessly with Clients and delivering projects of a good quality and Mike is continuing to strive to achieve that high standard.
It is with optimism that AKDP will continue to strive to reach high standards and Mike is endeavouring to assist the new Members in that objective and will maintain a significant presence into the foreseeable future.
