Ashanti Close, Southend - Demolish existing garages and construct two and three storey block of five self-contained flats and layout parking. Plus, three terrace dwelling houses including new vehicular access.


Bluemans End, Essex - Demolition of existing garages and construction of 4 No. affordable homes consisting of 2 No. houses and a pair of maisonettes along with 9 No. parking spaces and associated amenity space.


Albyns Close, Essex - Demolition of existing buildings and construction of 19 No. dwelling houses with associated amenity, parking and landscaping. New Shared Ownership & Rented Houses.


Becontree Day Unit NHS, Dagenham - Extend and refurbish an existing NHS health care building.


Biography

Carl joined AK Design in January 2000 - 2001 as a Senior Architectural Technician. Working as part of a team and reporting to a Senior member of staff to produce planning, tender and construction drawings.


Carl has 37 years’ experience in the construction industry, working on education, commercial, healthcare, residential, MOD and refurbishment projects.


He rejoined AK Design as a consultant in 2008 where his main responsibilities were for all technical aspects of the construction process.


His activities can vary depending on the project, but typical duties include;


  • Selecting the best materials and processes for the project.
  • Surveying sites and identifying location benefits.
  • Carrying out feasibility studies and risk assessments.
  • Assessing environmental impacts and identifying legal issues.
  • Analysing architectural plans and drawings, highlighting any possible risks or problems and making amendments using CAD applications.
  • Specifying the appropriate technology and tools to be used in the project and advising where this requires deviation from the initial design plans.
  • Liaising with the architect, surveyors, structural and mechanical engineers and other construction professionals, sometimes managing the design project team.
  • Preparing documents to help with getting planning permission and building regulations approval along with other similar approvals.
  • Visiting sites to check progress and inspect works.
